HOW WOMEN CAN PREVENT MENSTRUAL CRAMPS ?

Many women experience menstrual cramps for at least 1 – 2 days every month . Though some experience mild cramps some experience extreme cramps .

WHAT CAUSES MENTRUAL CRAMPS ?

When the uterus contracts to shed the uterine lining , this causes menstrual cramps or period pains . There are also several kinds of menstrual cramps such as PMS ( premenstrual syndrome ) it starts few days before the actual menstruation . it causes fatigue , body ache etc . PMDD ( premenstrual dysphoric disorder ) it is more intense than compared to PMS it causes more painful cramps .

HERE ARE SEVERAL WAYS ONE CAN TAKE TO EASE THE MENSTRUAL CRAMPS :

Pain relievers – Pain relievers acts as a magic . Taking pain killers as soon as the cramps begin for 2 to 3 days or till the symptoms are gone under the directions of the doctor .

Massage with essential oils – Some essential oils can help ease the pain . Massage the abdomen area with hands gently for 5 to 10 minutes . here are some essential oils that can help ease the pain are lavender , rosemary , clove and cinnamon .

Eat a healthy diet – Eating a good and healthy diet is so important especially during menstruation as our body becomes weak . Also one should avoid caffeine and salty foods as these can cause bloating , water retention and discomfort . One should also drink lots and lots of water because hydration is important especially during menstruation .

Do yoga – Yoga can be really useful at reducing menstrual cramps . Here are some yoga asanas which are helpful during period cramps – child’s pose( balasana ) , head to knee forward bend( janu sirsasana), reclining twist( bharadvaja) , inverted leg pose(viparita karan) etc .
